Guidelines for a Harmonious Research Environment
An identity card is a must for all library transactions. ID cards are non-transferable and must be presented upon request.
Users without an Identity Card are not allowed in the Research Area. Entry requires registration in the "Gate Register" (name, time, etc.). ID cards must not be transferred.
A student may borrow 12 books at a time for 28 days (can be re-issued twice if no demand). Subsequent renewals allowed only after three days. Fine: ₹1 per book per day. Reference Books, Thesis, Reserved Books, New Arrivals, and Periodicals stay in-library. Library books are not to be taken out of Bangalore. Books should be returned before summer vacation.
Thesis Library use is restricted to 1 hour per session with prior permission and following necessary formalities.
Users should avoid reshelving books, journals, and theses; instead, please leave the materials on the table after use.
Moderate silence must be maintained in all areas. Absolute silence is required in the Research Area. Mobile phones or sound-making gadgets/equipment should not be used after entering the Access Control Door.
Lost books must be reported immediately to the librarian. If the book cannot be recovered, specific procedures for replacement or payment must be followed.
Members must handle all materials with utmost care. Mutilation, writing, scribbling, marking, and cutting pages are serious acts that will be dealt with severely.
Eating food and drinking beverages is strictly prohibited inside the Library.
Personal belongings must be kept at the Property Counter. Submit your identity card at the circulation counter to receive a locker key.
No material from the Library should be taken out without proper issuing or recording.
The library provides a special facility for senior scholars to reserve tables for reference/stack books. Reservation must be done at the Circulation Counter, following these rules:
